I personally contend that no matter how big it is, no one can have “enough” room in their closet. My husband will tell you that’s because I have an out-of-control need to fill it with clothes, shoes and handbags. I confess I am a shop-a-holic. I am also a fan of organization and ease of access in the storage of my things. So, when you don’t have enough closet space, try some of these storage furniture.
First, don’t let the way your closet was installed limit you. You can make changes. Pull out the old racks and install some of the new rack systems that allow for optimum use of space. These easy to install systems are modular and can be customized to suit your needs. If you have lots of purses, you’ll need racks for those. Maybe you are a guy with an abundance of sports coats that need heavy duty rods. These systems will accommodate. Most of the retailers for these systems will help you with layout and most offer installation if you are not the do-it-yourself type.
Secondly, do keep the space organized. Your shoes might be easier to kick off in the bedroom or on the closet floor, but spend the thirty seconds it take to put them in their slot in your shoe cabinet and you’ll find the closet stays neater and your things more accessible.
Finally, do go through your clothes, shoes, etc. on a regular basis. Get rid of the stuff you no longer want or will never fit into again. Most charities will even arrange to pick them up and you’ll get a tax write-off to boot. When you don’t have enough closet space, use our brain and some of these simple storage furniture and make the most of what you do have.
